Hello
An incredibly rare yacht for those interested in either this manufacturer or category. You will struggle to find another.
I have no idea who will eventually buy this, but if you want a fast, unique catamaran that’s not huge in purchase cost, maintenance time and yard fee’s, this may be for you.
I hadn’t originally intended to paint the hull before selling. However, once the deck had been repainted, the contrast between the fresh white finish and the original 30-year-old gelcoat was far greater than expected. As we’d always intended this colour scheme, it made sense to complete the job properly. I’ve included photos taken before painting so you can see the boat as she was.
As the original gelcoat was laid relatively thin to save weight, there were a number of small stress cracks around the bows along with a few cosmetic imperfections elsewhere. Each was ground out with a Dremel, epoxy filled and faired before painting. It was a time-consuming process, often revisiting areas as different light revealed imperfections I’d previously missed, but I’m very pleased with the end result and would be proud to sail her exactly as she is.

ABOUT DAZCAT
https://www.multihullcentre.com/dazcat-catamaran-range/
Dazcat is a UK-based specialist designer and builder of performance cruiser-racer catamarans and trimarans, established in 1987. The company is headquartered in Millbrook, Cornwall, near Plymouth Sound, and operates in close partnership with sister companies Multimarine Manufacturing LTD for production and The Multihull Centre for brokerage and storage.
The brand is renowned for its lightweight composite construction, offshore capability, and customizable platforms that cater to a wide range of needs, including high-performance racing, long-range cruising, and wheelchair accessibility. Their current primary focus is the Dazcat 1500 series, which offers distinct configurations such as the D1500-C (Cruiser), D1500-S (Sport), and D1500-R (Race).
Historically, Dazcat has built a strong pedigree in competitive sailing, with models like the D1495 and D995 achieving notable success in international events including the Fastnet Race, Transatlantic, and Round Britain and Ireland races. The yachts are often described as “connoisseur’s yachts,” designed for experienced sailors seeking a blend of speed, spacious comfort, and personalized design.

So this boat was commissioned in 1996 by Dr Gordon Baird from Scotland for racing in the Three Peaks. I have had brief conversations over email with him, I am sure he would be happy to speak to you should want any more information.
I have the original invoices for the materials. It is a polyester/vinyl ester construction on sandwich foam board. Originally 2000kg.
In 2000 Tony and Ann purchased the boat sailing in the UK then Europe. See the blog Tony wrote here – https://freeboatadverts.com/dazcat/index.html
In 2007-2009 you can read on the blog the refurbishment they undertook.
In 2024 we were lucky enough to purchase the boat but we have decided to sell as we are moving to Asia. If we weren’t relocating, she wouldn’t be for sale.
I spent the 2025 season sailing her around the Greek islands, mostly on my own. One of the things that surprised me most was just how easy she was to handle. I’d expected a lightweight performance catamaran to demand constant attention, but she was actually very relaxed to sail. She moves well in lighter winds where many heavier cruising cats would be reaching for the engine, and once the breeze builds she really comes alive.
She is EU vat paid, currently awaiting an unlimited transit log off the Greek authorities saving major headaches not having to log in/out of ports which they require with the limited transit log. In addition, with the limited log, you can only spend 18months in Greece before having to take the vessel out of the EU to reset the clock.
If you’re genuinely interested, I’d recommend watching the full video, as it covers the boat in far more detail than any written advert can.
You will not find many small, light, fast and stylish catamarans for sale. Smaller catamarans tend to be older Catalacs or Prouts from the 70-80’s era. Very different market.
One of the pleasures of owning a lightweight catamaran is simply sailing rather than motoring. Seeing 5–6 knots in lighter winds and comfortably reaching 10–12 knots in moderate conditions made many passages far more enjoyable than I expected from a 30-foot cruising cat.
She isn’t a floating apartment, nor does she pretend to be. Instead, she’s a boat for someone who enjoys sailing. Compared with many small cruising catamarans of the same era, she feels lighter, more responsive and far happier making progress under sail rather than relying on the engine. If your idea of cruising is covering miles efficiently while still putting a smile on your face at the helm, that’s where this boat excels.
I call her a Greek coastal cruiser but she’s able to go further if you desire.
I forgot in the video, but it has a cockpit shower. Fine in summer of course. This is the simple bag design you hang from the boom. If I was sailing this year onwards, I would purchase this – https://www.decathlon.com.gr/en/p/334620-279469-pressure-solar-camping-shower-10-litres.html. Tony and Ann had a 12v pump motor version which had become old, this above is simpler still.
Equipment summary;
15kg Rocna anchor and 70m of 7mm chain.
New dyneema trampoline 2025.
Fortress kedge anchor.
New acrylic for round hatches 2025.
1k paint top deck with silica sand for grip.
2k primer for hull, then 1k top coat with hardener and thinners (Greek humidity and heat made 2k top coat a challenge). To note, orange stripe is RAL2009 and the grey is RAL7040 should you need to touch up.
Running rigging good condition, no changes required.
Standing rigging in good condition but over 10 years old. No chips or cracks found but not much of it either should you want to replace in the future.
New lazy bag/sail stack.
New bimini cover.
12v top loader fridge.
Diving gear, lifejackets.
Honda BF20 from 2017.
Parsun from approx 2020.
Aluminium Ribeye rib, 2.5-2.7m. Some kind of hypalon, I think their own brand/version of it. Not PVC anyway I believe.
Usual ropes/fenders.
Assortment of tools, spares, lotions and potions under the boat. Ideally store most of it or donate what you don’t want.
Flares and fire extinguisher, in date.
Onwa chart plotter with Navionics, AIS trans/rec, ultrasonic wind sensor (to be fitted).
VHF (needs connecting to anntena top of the mast).
Depth.
340w solar panels total.
New 100ah Eco Worthy lithium (bluetooth).
Victron 20amp battery charger (bluetooth).
2x Victron solar controllers (bluetooth).
Raymarine autopilot. See video for more explanation on that.
Sails, 1x Genoa on small furler, 1x Yankee self tacking jib, 1x full batton main sail, 2x spinnakers, 1 with a rip, the other fine. No spinnaker pole if required.
Galley, 2x burner alcohol stove.
Heads, fitted with a composting toilet. The original plumbing and fittings remain in place should you wish to reinstall a conventional marine toilet in the future. There is only one below-waterline seacock, serving the original toilet inlet. If you continue using the composting toilet, there’s nothing you need to do—the seacock simply remains closed, meaning there are no active seawater systems below the waterline.
She is currently located at Margarona Boatyard in Preveza, Ionian. My price currently 7 months ashore with lift in/out is €2700 a year. Any additional months ashore are €160 a month. Yard fee’s will be clear at the point of sale.
